Okay, I'll say it. She couldn't hold off posting on facebook until she reached her sister? I mean really? I think it was kind of immature of her. more important for her to post it for the masses to see before her own family knew? that's BS

I'm left out of things because I'm a 12-hour drive away. I've made countless trips to visit them, but my sister hasn't visited me in DC once. Have I said anything about that to her? no.
This is your problem - not your sister announcing her engagement on Facebook AFTER she called you. Deal with this - everything else is a symptom of this problem.

She might have felt the need to post on Facebook without waiting another day because word was leaking out (other Very Important Family, the soon-to-be-Mr., etc.) and she wanted to make her announcement instead of having people post to her timeline in dribs and drabs with "hey, I just heard, is it true, oh, wow".
