Love Laurence Fishburn. Loved when they flashed to when Dre was in his Malcolm X phase and pops was holding the metal balls (a la his role in Boys in the Hood movie). So many small things that DH love that totally go over kid's head. Love love love the show and last night was amazing!!!

Agreed and I had tears in my eyes by the end - it didn't tug at the heartstrings as much as the episode about Church's chicken for Christmas - that one nearly had me bawling - but it was honest and done so well.

I liked the episode when they were shopping for a church.

Oh THAT one was spot on - especially for me coming from a UU tradition... hit very close to the mark.

I agree. The whole show should revolve around Tracee Ellis Ross imo.

Tracee Ellis Ross is a brilliant comedic actress -- I could watch her in anything.

Interesting - I watched maybe the first 5 or 6 episodes when the show first started, and stopped watching it because it felt soooo formulaic and almost stereotypical. I know sitcoms are generally a formula, that one just felt stale by 5 episodes in.

I may have to revisit, it sounds like it has gotten better!

The N Word was great! That was our first episode and we were hooked.

But, I loved the one about their personal finances. So funny. Great show!

This isn't the first difficult topic they've handled, but it's probably the most difficult one. And they do it with humor and sensitivity. I really thing this show has brilliant writing and acting.
