I also never found her aspirational and the "marlboro man" stuff was strange too since I found him unappealing as well. The food is not anything i relate to so I was never into her but would be annoyed by her rising fame, which was unusual. I have come to figure out that i think she is prone to exaggeration and is histrionic. Not in an over the top emotional way, but just deeply insecure, attention seeking/flamboyant (hence the bright orange hair and wild prints) basically a major exaggerator and storyteller. The voice is a part of it. I think she thinks it is cute.

Her high pitched fake voice is super annoying, but the worst part is when she tries to be funny on the shows filmed pandemic. She should have a written script and out takes because she’s just goonie, but definitely NOT funny

I've tried several of her recipes and they've been really hit and miss. The only two that I've consistently remade were the red pepper pasta and the chicken with mustard cream sauce - those are both delicious and I'd recommend to anyone.

Beyond that, I agree with most -respect what she's been able to achieve, think she's better in print than on TV, like some of her housewares.

I agree, I liked her blog (I got hooked on the loved story with Marlboro man) but when I saw her show, I couldn’t believe that’s what she sounded like.

I also don’t understand why she talks about her brother the way she does. It always made me uncomfortable but I thought maybe she thought it was funny/ a way to show her comfort with his disability?

All this to say, I had no idea about the other controversy and it’s pretty disappointing. I thought she was just a relatively boring farmers wife who Stumbled upon “fame”

She is extremely successful. She is also educated. I watch her show occasionally. I understand what everyone is saying, but one can’t deny she is incredibly successful.

PW recipes can pretty much be found on the internet and well before she "re-creates" them on her show. She copies other peoples recipes and takes credit for them and rales in the money for someone else's idea(s).

I agree with the poster who commented on her being a vegetarian and then throwing it out the window because she met/ married a cattle rancher. And the the responder who said it's called "growing up." WTheck does growing up have to do with being a vegetarian? She not only eats meat but her family is part of what some would consider animal cruelty.

She's insincere, phony, a copycat and lacks talent. Btw-WHO can't blog, take photos or write things? Those are her ordinary claims to fame at the beginning of her show.

That’s hilarious. I read the blog years ago and wondered about that because she always seemed like a farm girl or townie to me. The girlie food vs cowboy food thing really annoys me.

I do not like her show at all, but I was a fan of her blog for years. She actually helped me learn how to cook. The pictures of every step were really helpful for someone like me who had no idea how to do a ton of basic things. So even though I'm not a fan of her voice or mannerisms, I am grateful to her for showing me how to shred chicken, make pico di gallo, and fettucine alfredo (among other basic things).

I started reading her blog 8 or 9 years ago and loved her photography and stories about life on the ranch. At the time, her story was that she was this city girl who fell in love with a cowboy and moved to the country. As it turns out, she grew up in small town Oklahoma but moved to LA for a short time and thus became a “city” girl. She’s pretty great at marketing herself, but her white lies and tendency to try to portray reality in a particular way give me an icky feeling so I don’t watch her.

Her Sunday Night Beef Stew recipe is pretty amazing, though.

Doesn't she pay to be on the Food Network and produces/pays for her own show? I thought I read that somewhere.
I find her recipes uninspiring but she is good background noise while i clean on Saturdays.

Her recipe for the peanut butter chocolate fluff pie (I don't think that's the exact name but it's something like that) was delicious! Of course it's an insane amount of calories since it has a block of cream cheese, heavy cream, etc, but it was tasty lol.
