Your friend who married a well to do guy, I have seen plenty of those go bankrupt.

Over the past 4-5 decades my finances had 'rollercoastered'. I made good money. Then didn't. Then did. Then didn't. But have been making good money for quite a while and will never go back to not having enough.

It's not the income that counts early on. It's the work ethic, intelligence, goals and drive. A woman can marry a man who doesn't have a lot of money but he should have other qualities that make him a match. If financial security is one of those then make sure he has what it takes to gain that.

In another thread here about careers someone said they're getting by with $700K. Really? If that's the scale then maybe I should apply for food stamps.

No, but since I stay home I don't complain about the money he earns.

"poor" but happy here too. Been married 10 years and still bless fully happy. I dumped an investment banker for my "poor" guy. He just wasn't a kind person and didn't treat me well.

Really? Because I'm in the bracket and flush with cash. Don't think I've read a single post where someone says they make 500k and are struggling. We must be reading something different or you have a special narrative running in your head.

My husband doesn't make a lot at all (about $60K base and about $10K in freelance work). I make $112K so we bring in about $170-180K a year, which is not great for this area. He is fairly ambitious in his field though and is talented at what he does. He has been having more opportunities lately so hopefully he will start bringing in more in the next few years. We are also fortunate that we both come from family's that are pretty comfortable financially, and they were able to help us out with the down payment on our house, and could help us out if we were ever really in a bind.
