Costco had two dozen small organic eggs for $7 or so last week. We don't eat many eggs or it might be crazy.

I just read a posting on a liberal site that said eggs are being shoplifted and it's okay to steal food when you claim to be or look hungry.

I think most of the chicken we eat around here comes from the Delmarva peninsula and they haven't had the epidemic that they had in the midwest. Also, since the chickens are butchered at 6-8 weeks old, it doesn't take long to recover if they did lose a batch of them.

Yes, DELMARVA (particularly Delaware) is where the US gets the majority of it's "broiler" chickens (those you eat). Bird flu has been mostly affecting Egg laying chickens which are mostly located in Wisconsin/Iowa/etc. So, that's why eggs are expensive and not chickens.

As others have mentioned turkey's in the Midwest (particularly Iowa) have had a massive wave of bird flu and there will be substantially higher prices on birds for T-day. Bird flu comes into flocks via migratory birds which is why it's so difficult to combat.
