I have a secret to preparing them. After you cook the noodle, rinse them in water. Then add more water, enough for your broth, then add the seasoning, then warm it up again.

Thank me later.

Yeah, they are $0.17 a package now. Damn inflation.

I like the blue packs. Nissin Top Ramen, but I will settle for Maruchan.

Where did you grow up?

Grew up in Annapolis, MD. My dad did all of the cooking and he was a health nut. Once I was old enough to drive, I gorged on food we were never allowed to have. Somehow though, I've never had ramen.

I posted upthread about ramen/crackers and going to the grocery that night. I ended up going last night, and indulging after everyone went to bed. They weren't as good as I remembered.

You are one among millions who have done that.

We make a cole slaw that uses raw or toasted ramen noodles. It's delicious!

When I lived in Thailand ramen was one of my students' go to snacks. We'd boil the noodles and drain. Sauté some chopped veggies (onion, cauliflower, whatever) in oil, add the noodles, flavor packet, and an egg or two and fry until slightly crisp/dry. Serve with ample doses of Sri racha. Yum!

Add a slice of American cheese, some butter, an egg, thinly sliced scallion, a couple of drops of sesame oill, a sprinkle of sesame seeds. I can't explain it. It's really, really good.

Love them with a little Sriracha and a squeeze of lime juice.

Go to either an Asian grocery or a supermarket with a decent Asian section (our local Harris Teeter does). Look for one of the low cal stir fry sauces. You can compare the calories per 2 TBSP portion right on the bottles. Make 1/2 a brick of Ramen (it's under 200 calories for 1/2 the brick) following the instructions for boiling. After cooking, drain most of the water out, leaving about a cup or so of water, then add a TBSP of the stir fry sauce, to the just boiled water and let sit for a minute. Then let her enjoy.
Giant has a fantastic Asian section in most of the stores I have in.

Interestingly enough try your local latino grocery or believe it or not a dollar store like Dollar Tree!
