By the time my friends and I were out of college (her age now) 'ain't nobody got time for that shit' was pretty much the motto. The drama queens got booted from the island pretty damn quick. She's too old for this shit.
I wrote a few pages back that in my opinion, she has peaked. I wouldn't be surprised if this is her last tour for the foreseeable future, to be honest.
That just seems crazily out of touch to me. Her popularity will inevitably go down from its current crazy high -- that's bound to happen -- but I'm sure she'll continue making music and touring for at least another decade.

I used to like her a lot, I thought she was a true class act compared to her peers.
However now that her fame has skyrocketed and she is basically the biggest pop star on the planet, I can see that fame has definitely gone to her head.
She no longer has that "Girl Next Door" vibe she once had when she first came on the scene. Her image is no longer pure like it used to be.
Everyone grows up...She had to as well.

It does? My four year old likes Taylor Swift, as well as Michael Jackson, The Black Keys, Shostakovich. Up until a certain age, kids tend to like what they're exposed to.

But I give her credit for playing an instrument, wiring music and knowing how music is put together. So overall, I'd rather have her on the scene than someone like Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus.

I am also tired of the criticism that all young female artists get for writing/singing songs that aren't meaningful, ie, meaningful to old white men. The songs are very meaningful to girls, and girls are an important audience. They deserve good songs, too.
Finally, Entre Nous is nice, but Shake It Off is certainly catchier. Probably sold more copies, too.

Her lyrics are not usually profound like, say, Bob Dylan during the sixties or seventies, but she has a lot to say to young girls that old white prog rock bands aren't interested in saying.
You think Shake It Off is silly, but the message is something most girls can really relate to given the constant criticism girls are subject to for their appearance and behavior (much more so than boys are). The message to just be yourself and not let it bother you is probably immensely more meaningful to most young girls than a song about how no one really knows anyone else. I mean, sure, the latter is lovely, but it's not especially relevant to the lives of our daughters. See also her song Mean, The Best Day (about her mom), etc.

Her DC concert was actually very pro-girl power, anti bullying & G rated. It's nice to be able to take a tween to a concert and not worry about inappropriate messages, costumes, etc. if you have a tween girl listening to pop music, she's a much better role model than Katy Perry, et al.
