The parents should ask the school for a "safety" transfer. Things must be documented and so on, but safety transfers are possible in DCPS with documentation and good reason.

Do it...it may be against regulations but the circumstances over-ride in this case. Have friend's kid over often and prepare a space for him so that it shows the good will. Bullying has terrible, long lasting results. If the school was going to do anything about it, they would have by now. It's like saving a kid's life.

You don't know any details PP, including whether the parents have tried to go the legal route first. You'd be amazed at how often parents don't follow through, even on something this serious. And of course, often schools don't follow through either, in which case it's understandable that parents get desperate.

But OP has given NO details, nothing about what the family has tried to do to get their student moved the right way. Or of the timing of all of it (it's August after all - when did this happen and what did the parents do before now? What was school's response?).

Advising someone to jump to the illegal, potentially even more damaging act before knowing whether they tried the legal route is awful advice.

Wow, always amazes me how people with low or no moral standards think others are jealous or not well-connected. I guess it's just way over your head to consider that some of us live our lives according to what we think is fair and right, and even if we have friends IB for desired schools, we're not slimey or skeezy enough to ask them to break the law for us.

Your post makes me appreciate the quality of friends I do have that much more.

You still have not said what other steps the family has tried to take through the school? Every DCPS has a Bullying point of contact in the school, and certain reports are supposed to be filed. Also, it's a bit weird that this is coming up during the summer. Is the child in Summer school?

You should say no no matter what, but I'd like to know if the family has formally claimed bullying at the school, and if they've tried to get a change of school through DCPS. If bullying was confirmed, that can be a legitimate reason for DCPS to change the school of the student.

I'm seriously wondering if it's a real bullying situation... or just an effort to cut corners to get into a different school?

We had someone do this at our ES. EVERYONE knew about it. The bullying only got worse. Hard to hide this.
