I'm honestly surprised this is even a debate. My parents were very conservative about ear piercing, and I thought that was something of the past. Even so, they ended up letting me do it when I was 10, which doesn't even seem that old compared to what some people are saying.

I think anytime is totally fine, as long as she knows how to care for them and is willing to take responsibility for doing so.

I'm AA and had my ears pierced as a baby. Most African American children that I know fall under the same category as well.

3:39 You must have low expectations for your own child. Why not emphasize the positive outcome?

It seems reasonable for PP to ask her DD to wait until age 18 for piercings. I'd add tattoos also.
