The goofy hick got super famous thanks to The Voice, and he realized that life would be more fun if he were single and could sleep around. Why on Earth is anyone surprised by this??? It's so cliche.

if you think Pharrell is vanilla, you don't much about his body of work beyond 'Happy'. see also: Drop It Like It's Hot

Correction, I think Pharrell is remarkably talented. But on the Voice he comes across as plain vanilla (and remarkably seems over shadowed by the Blake/Adam antics).
