Yeah? These same women routinely play, and lose to, teams of high school boys.
What? They won the World Cup. I doubt they lose to high school kids.
No, they do. They've scrimmaged U16-ish boys teams in the past. Very good ones, though -- if they showed up at a random high school and asked to play the varsity boys, they'd probably win. But if they played an ODP selection, a top club or a title-contending high school team, they'd lose.
Right. I made the previous comment. It's nothing against the team, which I think is generally decent people (with a few exceptions). Celebrate their win, but for some people with a feminist bent, women's soccer is an excuse to shout grrrlpower and bash men. Shut up already and celebrate the team like any American team. They didn't beat men, they beat five foot Japanese women.

Shallow question from a non-soccer fan - why do most of the Japanese players have short/boyish hair?
My 9.5 year old son was absolutely convinced Japan's goalie was a male. It didn't matter what I said. He didn't believe me. He kept asking me why somebody didn't check.
What about the German goalie? She looks like Bruce before Caitlyn.

Oh, pipe down. We did annihilate them. Eff them, with their penalty kick victory 4 years ago. You'd think they'd have learned - they may catch us the first time, but in the end, they get pounded.
