good riddance to Chartwells. I hope other cities see how they defrauded DC government and cancel them as well. getting a new vendor in 5 weeks will be messy, but I predict that the outcomes for our kids couldn't be worse than the status quo.

Well that escalated quickly. Chartwells just quit on the contract renewal. Now DCPS has to find a food vendor for 45,000 students in 5 weeks. I think this is good news overall because Chartwells seemed awful. But the timing has to be tough from DCPS' perspective.

And Jack Evans is arguably the most successful elected official in the city's history. He must know a thing or two about politics. If DCPS doesn't care to get rid of Chartwells, then what makes anyone think it can be done? They clearly don't care that a contractor is continually stealing money from the DCPS budget. Makes you wonder how much money they're giving away to other contractors.
