My kid has never seen MM on TV or in a movie, and she knows Mickey, Minnie, Donald, etc., presumably from books, friends, etc.

Wtf does this further from home comment even mean? You sound weird.

I'm just relieved PP doesn't have the temptation of the Disney channel closer to home. Can you imagine the horror?

"Just not in our family vocabulary" I imagine her saying that with her eyes closed and a smug self satisfied look on her face while enjoying the smell of her own farts.

Marry me!

Y'all were the popular kids in school, weren't you?

How on earth did you come to that insinuation?

Hmm pull up diapers? They even put in a stuffed animal of Mickey or Minne or others. My 28 month old is obssessed. She has Minnie Mouse books, pjs, shirts, pants,:panties, lunchbox, container, doll.

How can one avoid all that??

Yes, through daycare.

What a wonderfully intelligent and astute observation you have made based in fact and logic. It certainly says a great deal about you.

The Post claims Disney has gotten away from its roots (accessibility to the average kid). Here, the question is does going to Disney even matter to the average kid? Maybe it is like the MLB. Attendance and ticket prices are up at MLB parks like Disney, but the diversity in terms of age and racial make up of the average baseball fan is no longer as broad as it once was. Chris Rock as a baseball fan had an interesting take on it. The game is becoming irrelevant to certain demographic groups (young people, AAs, less affluent). It seems here, Disney still attracts plenty of folks, but maybe that's due to the area's SES.

FWIW we go to Disney World about 4 times a year, Disneyland 1 time and do a summer cruise.

Whoa. Do you work for Disney? This is overkill.

No and overkill for who? It is what we enjoy doing with our children. We visit adventureland (DHs home state) magic mountain and knotts berry farm (my home state) with them too, as well as other vacations. I just thought I would qualify that we visit disneyworld and our children know who mickey mouse is to answer the OPs question.

My 13-year-old has probably been to WDW about 15 times. He has known who Mickey Mouse was from the earliest ages. We are DVC Vacation Club members and typically have annual passes. We love it, he loves it ...and that reminds me, I need to book our dining reservations for our next trip! Staying at a 1-bedroom with kitchen, huge balcony and jacuzzi. We're planning to do the Animator's Studio as a family this time, where we all learn to draw a character. We always do something different, and we always have fun.

Exactly. Disney is fun and all inclusive and every age can enjoy it there, including the adults.

Should also add it was Disneyland Paris.

Anonymous wrote:Back in the day, going to Disneyland was considered something the "working to middle-class" did during the summer w/the kids since it was cheaper than flying to Europe like the upper middle class did for summers.

Now..It seems only the upper class gets to go.

The prices are now sky high and at more than $100 each person, yes..Even the kids...Factoring in gas, food, parking and souvenirs this is a huge hit in the family budget.

In spite of this, many of the children I know do know Mickey Mouse. And the girls just love Minnie.

I think it's because they see the toys and watch it on T.V. too.

52 million people visit every year. Something tells me that everyone who goes isn't upper class.
