Well, when news outlets choose what to report or not report, there is no lying involved. There is nothing to study. Does it mean the bias isn't there? Doubtful. Every time I happen to get a glimpse of CNN, it is talking about something really really stupid. Or belaboring a tired topic that is not news anymore. I guess there is no need to lie about the Duggars, I'm sure most of it is thought to be true.

Ha! This is an interesting perspective. I don't claim to know much about Hannity and Limbaugh; I find talk radio too opinion-based for my taste. However, I can't remember either of those pundits expressing animosity towards gays. I can't speak about their opinions on gay rights specifically; I'm sure they are not all the same
My point is maybe you are in the wrong here? You don't understand your son, because you don't want to understand your son. You refuse to look at this issue from another's perspective. Not an open-minded approach exactly.

I'm an independent. My husband is a liberal conservative. A few years ago he was strolling through the news channels in the morning and saw our old weatherman Steve Doocy and started watching Fox and Friends regularly. I don't watch TV in the morning, so I didn't really notice anything off, but then one day I realized that they started a lot of sentences with the phrase "Some people say, or some people think". That bothered me. Then they published a poll where the total was 120%. What?!

My mother has gone off the rails. She went from Fox parrot to conspiracy theory nut. I have a Muslim roommate. Upon hearing this, my mother said I needed to buy a gun because this woman tricked me into moving in with her and Muslims are planning to kill all Christians. I reminded her I'm an atheist, but she still insisted I needed a gun.

God forbid you think you're getting that from Democracy Now. The issue with most libs is they don't like the viewpoints on Fox, which is fine, but just say so and stop dressing it up it BS due process explanations. If you want to point to CSPAN or NPR or something, OK, sure, that's somewhat better (though still wildly imbalanced) but in no way comparable to Fox. It's like saying chicken is better than beef because coq au vin is preferable to beef jerky.
There are some conservative posters who make thoughtful points and articulate their values.

Thank you. I agree, and have a lot of respect for my Republican friends who are whip smart and challenge me to re-consider my politics when we have great discussions. They are articulate, informed, and gracious with those who disagree with them. Not one has ever challenged me to a "smartness" contest.
