I'm 45 and nowhere near menopause yet, but I find myself getting tearful and nostalgic when listening to 80's music. For me, that decade was so full of hope and new beginnings - high school aand college and all that comes with it.

We were pre-9/11, young, innocent and waiting for our lives to begin. We didn't have cellphones or digital everything and actually talked to people face to face.

Now, we're middle aged, raising children or taking care of aging parents. It's sad to realize how complicated the world has become.

Oh my gosh, yes. And that song If You Leave. Plus Don't You Forget About Me from The Breakfast Club.

I saw The Breakfast Club in the theater on my first date, and Don't You Forget About Me was playing on the radio the morning I drove to take my SATs. Makes me tear up every single time.

I heard Purple Rain today, teared up, and thought of this thread.

The songs remind me of trading mix tapes with friends back in my teenage years. Good times..
