I am not at Shepherd just reading. Let me rephrase. I cannot believe that some parents wouldn't attend a one time a year fundraiser for only $35 that included babysitting. Further, I cannot believe some parents didn't attend because the event was. Located less than 5 miles from their school. A destination that they will likely be attending in 6th grade.

I am in utter shock that people are complaining about a 10 minute drive (yes that short in evening) to a location that will eventually be your middle and high school. And are you really complaining about $35 including food and babysitting??!!?

I don't think the price is unreasonable. Nonetheless, the families that I know at shepherd, the ones we socialize with--none of them were going because of the price and the location.

That doesn't mean the gala shouldn't happen, but I think the school should also focus on more inclusive events going forward.

We attended the gala. This was our first year. I understand it was better attended than previous and believe that it will grow substantially in the coming years. I think $35 per ticket is quite low and since they provided the pizza and movie night at school for the kids we didn't have to also pay for a sitter. I would be curious to know a school that has a lower ticket price.

OP, I can't comment about ITS, but we are moving our DC from an OOB WoTP school to Shepherd next year (we recently moved in-boundary ). After having toured the school a few times, talking with the principal and teachers, and meeting several families whose children either already attend, or will be attending next year, we have a lot of confidence in the school and are excited to be joining the Shepherd community.
