I think it's generational. People who came of age in the late 60s and 70s and early 80s- post sexual revolution, pre AIDS - are more likely to have sex earlier on.

I was born in the mid to late 70s and I actually think people my age and younger are more conservative on this front than people older than us.

Wow ....... now we are talking history if that is when you were dating. Reagan was in office and the Soviet Union was around. You were probably born when JFK was president.

Go back a few more decades and women wore chastity belts! It is a different world today - ask your kids how they view it and if they tell you the truth you'll be surprised at how this generation views sex. Much more healthy in my opinion.

Speaking as a woman here: there can be an attempt for sex on the guy's part. I would probably be disappointed in any guy who didn't try after the third date. Nope, right after I did it I usually said "next one is on you if you feel it"; 99% of the time they went in for the second kiss later in the night. A friend tried the same and it blew up in his face. I was quite handsome and genuinely adored each of these women from very early on in the relationship.

I guess I'm trying to say I never came off rapey or high pressure.

M here...I have not dated in a while, as I have been married for 17 years. When I dated, If there was any attraction, I would kiss. At times, I went further, but those were usually ended up being one-night stands....

As for when sex happened, I usually tried early, but I respected the response. If she did not say yes, I took it slow. The funny thing is every woman I went out with three or more times I slept with. Not necessarily on the third date, but somewhere along the way.

My DW is the one I waited the longest -- about 4 months.
