When a 9 yo boy has BO after soccer practice, do you send him to shower using whatever products are in the shower already, or do you take him to the drugstore and make him pick 15 smelly things to spritz and scrub?

Water only for the face. The more you use stuff, the more you need it.

-Cerave foaming cleanser (Cetaphil clogged pores)
She uses the Acne.org treatments on faces and a sensitive skin LaRoche-Posay (literally the only moisterizer that doesn't kill her sensitive skin).

Soap
-Dove or philosophy soft soaps

Toms Deoderant

Doesn't really use body lotions. But uses her dad's O'Keefe's for hand lotion/moisture.

Our almost 10 year old uses Cetaphil face wash/lotion, the same shampoo, conditioner and body wash she always has, plus uses Fresh Kids (target) or Fresh Monster deodorant. DD knows she will get stinky if she doesn't put on deodorant, so she puts in on every day. Face washing can be an issue but she only get a sporadic pimple here and there thus far. Worse in the summer with more sweat lol.

I think trying products makes it fun for kids. It's never too early to have a solid routine for skincare.

This is so bizarre to me. I have a 12 yr old DD and I still have to remind her to brush teeth and put on her deodorant on. I bought her face wash and facial moisturizer at 10, and I’m pretty sure we on the same OG bottles of them...

I take good care of my own hair and skin: use the best products, have a routine, bring up skincare to her now and then. She just doesn’t have any interest.

My kid is 11. My older one is 15, but they use the same stuff. One girl one boy.

Body:
Dove soap.

Scent-free antiperspirant.

Scent-free body lotion (like lubriderm, aveeno)

Face:
Neutrogena or cetaphil sensitive face wash

They both started having mild to moderate acne, so they use the La Roche Posey clarifying solution and, as needed sport treatment. Their faces are very clear now, with occasional breakouts.

Youth to the people superfood airwhip moisturizer. This is the only really pricy thing, but both are sensitive to moisturizer on their faces and we went through several drugstore and more adult ones before finding that this worked really well.

UltaMD UV Clear sunscreen

Lip balm as needed - like chapstick or burts bees.

Hair:
Whatever OGX shampoo they like. Neither use conditioner right now.

Scent:
They each picked out a perfume or cologne they liked and I purchased one of those smaller travel atomizers. These were pricy. They rarely use them, only for special occasions.

At holidays and birthdays they get stuff like a few lush soaps, massage bars, bath bombs. I have a hard time with the bath and body works scents so I don’t buy it and they don’t seek it out. Family will buy scented lip balms and other things like that.

If you start out with stuff that are too expensive, that expense will only keep going up. Most of the time, they use what their friends like to use. And as for the fragrance, just because you like the passion fruit fragrance does not mean she likes that same scent. So, you will need her to explore that. Try the scent at the store, smell it later. Some people's body scent does not match their fragrance even though the fragrance itself smells great.

Same with us, PP. No changes here except that our dd, 11, uses the tom's deodorant before school and before gym class.
