Grainne is a perfectly good Irish name, and is often used as the Irish equivalent to "Grace." No need for stupid made up spellings.

Grae- is pronounced gray, just like brae (as in Bonnie Brae) is pronounced bray. And -cyn is pronounced sin, just like the Cyn- in Cynthia. So, gray-sin (which is how I pronounce Grayson). The English language is full of absurdly complicated and non-phonetic spellings. If you can figure those out (which you do, routinely), then you can figure this out.

My son is named Grayson and it suits him perfectly. He's a huge, stoic, pensive African-American boy with a quiet smile. In utero, he rarely moved and never kicked. He was as peaceful then as he is contemplative now.

I had never heard or seen the name before---it just came to me the week before he arrived.

I have only started hearing the name from other people in the last couple of years. He's old enough that he was named well ahead of any of this.

If he were a girl, maybe Grace would have been the name that took? It certainly fits his personality.

I've only heard of girl Greysons with an -e, not an -a.

Oh well.

This is a sucky name. This is a name of a man who take selfies. Or a woman trying to be pretentious. Either way, not good.

Actually just heard of a coworker naming their son Grayson. First boy I have heard with that name. I only know girls.

I do not think it is a family name.
