I guess this should be a spin off, but I'm more curious about the percentage of households where both people WOH full time, vs. the households where one person is a SAH. We have a cleaning person that comes two times a month. We both work full time.

Props to you. But I could not fathom scrubbing toilets on a regular basis.

We've had the house professionally cleaned on a few occasions (right before our kids were born and once or twice after that). But otherwise we've never had any household help. Dh actually does most of our handyman type work too (like paint touch ups, replacing the garbage disposal, etc). And we have always done our own yard care.

I do take the cars in for oil/filter changes. It's just less time consuming and we don't have to deal with disposing of the used oil.

We make $350K with 3 elementary aged kids and have a weekly cleaning lady for $125. We don't pay for childcare (I telecommute from home).
We live in NW DC and I'd say that less than 50% of our friends have cleaning people. These are all dual incomes households of $250-500K.

100k no cleaning lady (person?). Can't afford it, debt was half our annual income a few years ago but will be paid off this year.

We make $170k on a single income but no cleaning lady. I guess we could afford it but I would rather use the money for something else when I'm capable of cleaning my own house.

HHI of about $200. Five kids. No cleaning lady. If I worked full time, I would probobly hire help. As a SAHM, I would feel ridiculous if I hired someone to clean.

I have a cleaning man-- couple. He started helping his wife when he lost his job. He does a great job cleaning the house.

250+ HHI and I feel the same way. Plus dealing with clutter is the hardest part for me and a cleaning lady would not do that.

For us, having a cleaning lady that comes every other week helps with the clutter, because we unclutter right before she comes and it doesn't build up.
