Well, she's almost universally admired by anyone who knows anything about acting, the stage and filmmaking, so I'm sure Meryl won't lose sleep knowing you don't like her, OP.

when I was young, actresses like Betty Davis and Katherine Hepburn were toward the end of their careers. Yet I could acknowledge what great actresses they were. I never thought dumb things like their the last of the older generation’s great actresses. They’re either great or not. Meryl Streep is among the most versatile and accomplished screen actresses ever.

Nah, I'm in my early 30s - haven't seen many of her movies made prior to the late 80s - and I know how good she is.

I'm 35, so too young to have seen lThe Deerhunter or Sophie's Choice or lots of her roles as she made them. I still recognize that she is one of the greatest actresses of all time. She's great in everything. If you don't get the hype, you don't get acting.

I can't think of another actress in the last fifty plus years who has been as consistent as MS in delivering such absolutely stunninng performances and displaying the versatility that she does.
