Comparing someone who writes his own music and can actually play instruments and someone who does nothing but perform music and dance created by others is like apples and oranges.

Truth is the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences were pissed at Beyoncé because she surprised the entire music industry by releasing her latest self-titled album only on iTunes first with no warning, no other promotion, no launch parties, no advance radio play, none of the traditional pre-sale retail hype -- she turned the industry upside down in a sense and showed how a true star can break the industry glass ceiling and they didn't like it. Period. Beck didn't deserve that award.
It's amusing that you think your opinion is definitive. But it doesn't matter. The people with the most votes win the Grammy. B didn't win. Beck did. That's pretty much it. K shouldnt be robbing young artists their time to shine.
Beck is anything but a young artist.

Well, if anything, we should be embarrassed for Kim. It's obvious her husband is carrying a major torch for Beyonce. He's her biggest fan.

I didn't care for it much either and I really liked her previous albums.

Vocally I think on a lot of songs she pushes to a really "unclear" tone, that sounds cool and gruff and emotes a feeling for the song but isn't all that nice for the ear. I also like that she made a more concepty album, a little more persona driven, etc. But it also made her feel a little bit like a caricature, not really a person on a lot of the songs.
