OK, but Turtle Park and points even farther west are more than a mile from Deal. As one might expect, many houses that are more than a mile from a given school aren't zoned for that school. If you lived .1 miles from Deal instead of 1.1+ miles from Deal, you might get some sympathy, I suppose. Anyway, sorry that you bought a house zoned to a school that you don't want your children to attend, but that just puts you in the same position as most of the rest of the city.

I don't even go to Brent and I know about this book. They mentioned it to us when we were trying to revamp our school. It's the "primer" for how to revamp your neighborhood school. One of the "original" parents on this magical Brent group offered to meet with us as well.

Pp it is simply sour grapes. Ignore the haters. I know personally dozens of Brent parents who worked incredibly hard to bring improvements for all the kids at Brent. It did indeed take dedication and energy and commitment and expertise. The outdoor spaces are just the beginning. No one asked for praise ( except Tommy Wells ) or feels like a parade or book is in order. It is simply what we are told parent commitment should look like at every school. It's the healthy, community school model that is supposedly important. No one wants a parade but it does suck to be kicked around and insulted for pitching in at your neighborhood school.

SAH = Stay at home (spouse)

Hardy (never read the Basis ones somehow).
