That's how my parents handled piercings, and it worked beautifully. No preteen angst/fear about the piercing, and I knew that I could get another when I turned 18. By the time I turned 18, I wasn't interested in piercings, tattoos, etc--I think multiple piercings and "body art" looks trashy. My parents were/are brilliant!
