14:43 here - I forgot the library. Up to 5 children at a time are allowed to be in the library to do homework. Unlike a different Arlington PP, we do not have a classroom for homework space (you either get into the library or need to do it in the cafeteria, where other kids are doing fun but noisy activities). Our extended day kids are also not allowed to be in other parts of the school, so there would be no visiting or helping past teachers. The music room is a space that is dedicated for K kids only, so they are separate from the bigger kids. Everyone else gets the cafeteria, the gym, the playground, or the five library spots.

Also, FWIW, we forgot to sign up right away and tried to sign up on June 2nd - we were put on the waitlist. We found out two days before school started that we would get in, but other folks who tried to register over the summer were out of luck. Not bad compared to FFX County SACC waitlists, but it used to be any registration up until 8/1 and you were in, and that was as recent as two years ago.

I think Arlington guarantees childcare if you register by a certain time and they have access to the entire school verses two classrooms and the gym. Do they also allow part time registration such as 3 days a week? I'm pretty sure SACC costs are similar to both Montgomery County and Arlington. My friend in Montgomery County though says their program offers more diversity with actual classes as part of their aftercare such as basketball and sewing whereas SACC generally is just supervision while kids play board games and either play on the playground or play games such as kickball.

Arlington (at least some schools) is no longer able to offer guaranteed extended day if you register by 8/1 - the programs are too full. It also does not have the entire school - ours has use of the cafeteria, gym, and the music room but no classrooms (and an office for the extended day staff where they keep their supplies). There is no part time registration. You must prove that both parents work to be allowed to register, and there is a sliding fee scale. Fees differ for each school as some schools have full five days and some have a shortened day during the week for early release, but the sliding scale tops out at $65k annual income, after which you pay full price. Why don't they create a higher bracket for the higher earners? Do the brackets change with inflation? We thought SACC was great and could have paid more (double fed family).
