Right, I don't know any Jewish families (no interfaith marriage, conversion) who put up a tree.

Really? I know three off the top of my head.

Rye bread, Christmas tree -- we live in a diverse, mulitcultural country and life's happier when you lighten up.

I'm a Jew in an interfaith marriage who has a tree. When my husband and I were dating having the tree was fun. Now we put it up because we give a big holiday party every year and it is a part of the tradition. We've now gone for a more irreverant theme with a Star of David on the top, blue garland with Stars of David and dreidels hanging off the garland and ornaments of menorahs, dreidels and stars. There are many other ornaments too.

I light my menorah every night of Hanukkah and I've made latkes for my family. I also belong to a synagogue and am very involved. It's a frickin' pine tree in my living room. I can't get too worried about what others think.
