My DS ws in a similar boat as your DD and is in CC now. I do not know what state you are in but some CC's in Maryland have what in effect is a "IEP continutation" process although it is not technically an IEP. My son gets most of the accomodation he had in HS and he has an acadmeic "coach" on campus. He lives at home and if all goes well, he will transfer to a state school in a couple of years. They key with him was to find somethig he was interested in and would thrive in. For him it was IT.

Thank you, PP. I'm not OP but our DD is HS sounds a lot like you and it's really heartening to hear how you've grown and made the most of your abilities. It makes me feel more hopefull that our DD will find her way in her own time, with a little support and patience.

Your so welcome! I honestly never thought that I had the ability or motivation to go beyond a bachelors degree. I really would recommend encouraging your DD on her strengths and abilities. I always was under the impression because I had an LD, I didn't need to/want to achieve much. It was only until someone took the time to show me how that they believed in me and with study strategies that I could achieve as much as everyone else. I can't explain the amount of change and growth that has taken place from high school to college. My parents and past teachers have been amazed and are so so so proud.

If you are interested and tell me a little bit more about your daughters LD then I might be able to suggest some schools.

Is there anyone like a guidance counselor who might weigh in?

This. At some community colleges like NOVA, they guarantee admission into top state schools with a 3.0 gpa. I believe UVA and other top state schools participate. I would try this.

2.0 May be average over all high school students, but among those who plan to go to college, no way it's that low.
