Yes. I worked for the government for a little over a year. I keep applying to government jobs and can't get an interview.

DOJ has direct hire authority for lawyers. It's not the same as other positions.

This is annoying to me. Up front, no, I'm not a vet. Yes, I believe accommodations should be made for veterans who have served our country. But I hate the "vet preference" that gives additional weight to their qualification scores. Those scores should be based on merit alone. If, after the scores are calculated, there is a vet on the list, I have no problem giving them the first interview/preference for the job, but they should make that list on their own merits first. Just my opinion, I'm sure someone will have a problem with it.

HUGE joke. And it pisses me off that to get the promotion that I worked for for 4 years and earned that I need to compete for it on Usa jobs. Ridiculous. Even if someone was more qualified than me, my agency couldn't hire them because they don't have room for 2 FTEs (me and someone else).
