The fact that this president is currently NOT enforcing our border laws is instructive. The influx this past summer is the result of his decision not to enforce laws or deport those here. (and not about seeking asylum)

The problem with the conservative freak-out over this is that no one defines their terms. "Oh, no! The President's going to issue (shudder and dramatic thunderclap) an Executive Order on immigration!" Well, what does the order say? The President would agree that he can't change the law with an Executive Order, but he gets to direct how the laws are implemented and how they are enforced.
You say the President said "this" is outside of a president's power. Well, what does "this" mean in that context?
What, exactly, do you think the President will order in his Executive Order and why would such an order be a violation of his authority?

The influx this summer illustrates what will continue to happen. We have to stop the flow. I'm for legalization--but the flow must be stopped or, at least, stay within reason. Not just the border, but the overstays, as well.

The GOP Principles of Immigration, issued in 2014, includes provisions for a path to legal citizenship for certain individuals who are here illegally. Same as what Obama plans to do. It's just the sane Republicans can't get unite their party on anything. The Tea Party psychos mess up everything. So all they do now is the same old political posturing.
