No that's not how this works. A friend of mine went through something similar when her schizophrenic BIL murdered his parents. He wasn't declared fit for trial for 6 years but he wasn't released in the meantime. He literally sat in jail unmediated until he was declared fit for trial at which he was found guilty.

I wonder too sometimes. I mean - by now they are of course dead. But, just - how could she do this? To her own children ????

Last update was right before spring. Judge said not ripe for dismissal until 2022. [b]New psychiatric evaluation says she has reached maximum part of recovery; suggest it is because she has a psychological barrier preventing “restoration” to sanity because what she did was so horrific.

I feel sick thinking about this. I had not been familiar with the story until now. Those poor babies.
