Actually it is true that they don't have cell service. The Radio Astronomy Observatory down the road (we took a tour) regulates those things in that area.

Maybe something has changed...checked with my child again. Counselors have working phones..and even 1 kid though this is not allowed.

It probably depends on the phone and carrier. My kids counselor was on her phone at drop off. I guess she would have been playing games off line etc. I was still unimpressed.

Just wanted to come on and say that I learned about CHM here on DCUM and I just picked my oldest up from a week there, his first ever week of any sleepaway camp. He LOVED it. Thanks DCUM and thanks Hidden Meadows!

I would imagine that any camp has ticks. My kid went to daycamp in Centreville and got ticks. I got a tickbite in my backyard.

Just dropped my son off yesterday. The staff all seemed great and very helpful. The facilities looks wonderful and very well maintained. Cabins are cabins...nicely maintained but basic...and that's the point.

There was NO cell service at the camp (not that we let my son keep his phone...against the rules...but my wife and I couldn't get service until we were well away from the camp).

I have gone to this camp myself! It is a great experience except the first day you will be homesick. Other than that it is an amazing camp!

Hi, I actually have attended this camp for multiple years and never have i seen a counselor with their phone. Tom, the director is very strict about it and even moved the break room away from the main camp, so the counselors could not receive wifi while working. plus there is absolutely no cell service at camp, it is blocked by the national radio observatory, which is just down the road

I am a 16 year old girl and i have been going to camp hidden meadows for the past five years. i can honestly say that it is like a second home to me. the camp is small enough that you become close to everybody and you feel very included. My first year i was nervous but within the first day i quickly fell in love. This camp is perfect for kids from the suburbs, it gives them a unique opportunity to just experience nature to the fullest. 10/10 would recommend, especially for anyone who may have hyperactive children like i was. I have never met a child who left disappointed.
