Corrado could be shortened/Americanized to Cory-which is cute too but I prefer the old world charm of the full name.

Haha..sounds like my grandfathers generation: Italo, Angelo, Serino, Dario, Silvio.

I'm considering Dario myself.

I'm married to an Italian. He was very anti-Silvio, but I loved it. He also shot down Salvatore. We ended up going with Angelo.

The rest of our short list was:

Niccolo
Rocco
Cesare
Dominic
Lorenzo

Love the name Giancarlo. My son's former classmate was named Giancarlo (2nd grade) and no one had trouble pronouncing it. I bet the ladies will love it when he gets older! Also love the name Paolo.

This post is great! I am married to an Italian and we are going with Italian names as well.
Also old school with possible Leonardo (nn of Leo)
We also love:
Mateo
Massimo
Lorenzo
Enzo
Rocco

I also love the name Gianluca. Beautiful name for a boy!
Corrado is different, but would be hesitant because of the nickname potential of Cory.

Do you think kids talk about the Sopranos on the playground?

Maybe you make the connection but most people, especially kids, will just know the name as belonging to that particular kid.

People are going to think Sopranos if you choose all names popularized by that show -- no matter how 'old school" you think it is. Unless you are posting from Italy?

This is not an Italian name.

This is really stupid but I associate Corrado with corroded. I could see bad nickname potential - but I grew up in the 80s when it was kind of slang...I'm sure kids these days don't say that. My second thought was the Sopranos. Gianluca is nice, and I like lots of PPs suggestions too.

Maceo is a great name which we would have used if we were Italian or Spanish.
