You can always tell who is a real jerk about this issue. Chill out while my dog leaves his waste on your front yard! Right! 25 lb bag of red hot pepper from Amazon (like you put on pizza) sprinkled around on the lawn does the trick. And has the added bonus of being subtle. The dogs just do not like it.

I like the motion activated sprinkler system. Train up the dog and the inconsiderate owner at the same time.
I've had a fight with my neighbor for while now about letting her dog piss on my lawn. While I can't smell anything, I know everywhere that dog has pissed because my grass dies.

I just watched my neighbor allow his pitjbull to urinate on my mailbox for the last time. He also does not prevent them from getting out and chasing other dogs. I'm gonna try the pepper to curtail his dogs.

This is the law in Montgomery county Maryland. Your mailbox is most likely on public property. Your county probaby has a similar law.

An owner must not allow an animal to damage or defecate on property outside of the owner’s property. An animal may defecate on public property or the common area of property in which the owner shares an interest if the owner immediately removes and disposes of the feces by a sanitary method approved by the Director. Feces may be picked up in a plastic bag. If this bag is placed inside another plastic bag, it may be put out for disposal in your normal household trash.
You do realize the OP is talking about PEE not poop. Everyone would agree with her if dog owners left feces on the grass, but this OP is trying to prevent all animals (wild and otherwise) from peeing by her mailbox.

But, like the others said, dog pee really doesn't stink like how you're saying. So it is probably something else that's disturbing you.
