Haha, I agree! When I moved to this area, so many people raised their eyebrows, made snobby comments, told me I would never eat good food again, etc etc. Totally ridiculous! I even had one woman drive out to my new house to buy a used Pottery Barn Kids rug from me on Craigslist. She drove out from Bethesda to pick it up and made some snobbish comment about how FAR from everything I live. I wanted to say, "look, you are the scrub who drove 35 minutes to buy a used rug that my kids puked on."

If you can stand the idea of living in a sub-division, you can get a house in the 600s.
A sub-dividsion in the exurbs, that is.
