Bistro Le Pic - it's in 'North" Georgetown so no trouble parking, can get there easily from Bethesda going MacArthur (passing by Blacksalt) to Reservoir and it's right there when you get to Wisconsin. The upstairs wine bar area for eating dinner is a different casual nice atmosphere.

I think the reading comprehension issue is that the OP starts off by saying that she's already thought of Range and is looking for restaurants to add to her list.

So, Range meets all the criteria except for the "something I haven't thought of yet" part. It fails miserably there.

Great restaurant that people often don't know about is Matisse on Wisconsin Ave right below Fessenden. Relatively easy to get too. Expensive so we only go there for a treat. Nice ambiance, great service and yummy food. French but not heavy/traditional french which I can't stand.

I disagree on BlackSalt and 1789 - not cutting edge but certainly fine dining. Service at both is great and food is good.

The thread is called "Recommend fine dining" and asks for recs in MoCo (there is no fine dining in MoCo generally speaking) or somewhere easy to drive to in DC (which the above includes). I don't think there was any confusion in the response.


To me that was a list of some of the best (not to mention most expensive) restaurants in DC, and blacksalt and 1789 looked out of place compared to cityzen, fiola, komi, etc. Also, there's no way you can suggest that all of those places are convenient to driving from MoCo unless your thinking is that all of downtown DC is.

First of all, I'd say Blacksalt and 1789 don't belong on that list. Second of all, the thread isn't called "what is the best restaurant in DC". It should be possible to ask for advice on where to take grownups in a certain geographic area and get useful advice
