No. Call an animal behaviorist. Al Marx is great. We used him. Or ask your vet for recs. murdering your dog isn't the answer.

Good for you for doing the right thing and rehoming the dog, OP. I've had my dog for longer than I have had my kids, but if he bit one of them I would do the same as you did.

A growl is a warning. The dog growled at your kids and tried to warn you 99% of the time that he was not comfortable. He should be removed and placed in a family with no kids.

This dog is not bad as he clearly tried to warn you by growling and not bitting before. Find a rescue that will place him with a good home.

This is why I can not stand rescue organizations that home dogs with small children. Kids are unpredictable and so is a rescue whose history u do not know. Just because a dog lived with kids does not mean he will do well with yours.

Now your child has been bitten, the dog needs to go as he is clearly not accustomed to small children and the child has to be protected. Not the kids fault. Not the dogs fault.

Rescues should know better...makes me mad.

NP here. What? Aggression towards kids is very serious, and even if it didn't break the skin, you do not ignore an incident like that. The child does not need to do anything, as she wasn't at fault, and the dog should be rehomed, although that is OP's choice, not yours or mine.

No one is crazy. The OP has acted very responsibly and not just dumped the dog in a shelter. Some dogs just do not do well with children. Why force the issue?
