Some Trinity alum is on here bashing Connecticut College. Despite what they would like to think, Conn is a much better school.

Not being dismissive of the heavy drinking but think that's par for the course at many schools. Maybe more so at Trinity I really don't now. Yes the immediate neighborhood isn't great but that really did not affect the quality of campus life for me. I went back a few years ago and the campus and buildings are so much nicer than was I was there and I thought everything was beautiful then. I'm not sure why Trinity's ranking has dropped--honestly I think it may have to do something with the fact that it;s viewed as a more conservative school, but I hope the ranking goes up in the future because its a great school.

Recently went to visit the school. The campus is quite nice but the surrounding area is not. That's a bit of downer. Kids all seems to be very happy though. Heard through back channels that there is heavy drinking. Only repeating what we heard.

Reviving this thread--I went to Trinity as did may of my family members. Note, I was the first to attend. We all love and loved it. We all went onto very good graduate schools and we are doing professionally well. I'm always struck my how kind, interesting, interested, and hard working Trinity alums of all ages are. And yes, I would say that preppy fits the bill and while I'm fairly preppy, I had plenty of what we in the 90's would call alternative friends. And for what's its worth, they are doing well in their respective fields too. Also, what I loved the most about Trinity were the professors. They were so invested in students learning. The school is phenomenal and under rated. So, for all of those kids out there still considering where to go, try Trinity, it will surprise you.

How would you rank Trinity in terms of difficultly to get into compared to the other NESCACs?

How is Trinity politically? ( as far as student body and faculty) What kind of stats do you think it would take to get in ED?

Harvard rejected 32,000 applicants this year. They all had to go somewhere.
LOL! How true!

And George Will.

RE rankings, Trinity has fallen far in two decades. Twenty years ago, it was ranked 20-something in the USNWR list.

It has some financial challenges which necessitate it ensuring that about 60% of its students are full-pay. Given the price tag, that translates to a very preppy, rich student population.

I got a great education there in the 80s. Frankly, I think it was a better (albeit still preppy) school back then.
