But on the flip side, how many Female newscasters and anchors will you see with gray hair or even gray roots? Zero. Zilch. Because of that double standard.

The double standard is driven by women.

I don't wear make-up. I don't have great skin and I have bags under my eyes. I don't care. My face is my face. I am not fixated on appearances and I don't really care that other women think poorly of me for not changing my appearance with cosmetics. So many women are all about looks, looks, looks and judging other women for how they look.

You need someone to show you how to do it. Preferably not someone from the MAC counter.

BAHAHA. Yeah, no. Sorry, can't be arsed. The world is just going to have to deal with the fact that my eyelashes are not curly and my lips are not naturally scarlet. So for the world has coped fine for the past 40 years. I expect it will continue.

I can imagine that in some client-facing jobs it might have a professional impact, but my job is technical. I have never had a client complain that the work I delivered was produced by someone with insufficiently curly eyelashes.

I don't feel it's unfair because men are stuck with the look they have. We, on the other hand, have so many options to look different without any judgment. If my husband's eyelashes begin to look stringy, his options are to 1) get over it, and 2) get over it. Me, on the other hand...

I am 40 and have never worn foundation/skin make-up except for a very rare concealer to cover a zit.

However, I have no natural color in my face, like none at all. So without lipstick, I look like I have TB, and without eyebrow definition my face is nondescript. There is a huge difference in my looks with and without eye makeup, so I just got used to it and feel naked without it.

Fact: No one over 35(max) should go to work without at least some BB cream.

You don't have to have perfect skin, lips, and lashes to not wear make-up. I certainly don't. I just choose to spend my time, money, and energy on other things. What anyone thinks of my make-up free face doesn't really matter to me, and that seems to be working in my personal and professional life.

You're still a young pup, OP. Enjoy your clear skin and healthy glow while you can! In a few years you might find that you're starting to look washed out, or that your eyes don't have the definition they once did, or that your skin tone is uneven. When that happens, makeup can do wonders. Doesn't have to be a lot of makeup, just light mascara, sheer lipcolor, light blush.

I don't wear makeup routinely, usually only if I have to go to court or give a presentation. Even then it's BB cream, eyeliner and mascara. I go to the gym at lunchtime and I just can't be bothered to apply/reapply in the middle of the day.

my skin is too terrible to go bare-faced. don't tell me to go to the dermatologist, change my diet, or forgo make-up because it will make my skin "healthier." btdt. it's a lost cause.

Since when has a natural face been a sign of being disheveled or lazy? Who on earth thinks like that?

There are a lot more women without make-up in the world compared to women with make-up.
