It is a gamble to continue to work at a job that is causing extreme stress. That kills people every year. I'd rather be busted and broke than dead over a fucking job.

Why are you all so worried and obsessed with the OPs financial position?

The real message here is that people doing good work like social work are being driven out by high case loads, little to no support, untouchable horrible government employee managers, and inefficient and cumbersome bureaucracy…and here you all are focused on OPs W2.

I can manage my fiances very well but $50K as a single parent doesn't go very far in this area. I could cover 2 or maybe 3 months of expenses if I up and quit my job. No amount of financial savvy will change that fact.

Most people IN DC live way above their means and if they curbed their spending maybe somebody could quit a job like the OP, maybe the OP has plans to live on a credit card for a few months or to pick up a job at a restaurant which would probably has the same pay as a SW. Last time I checked restaurants and malls were jammed packed with customers, but maybe you don't live in DC, maybe you are posting from Pensacola. This is DCUM, not FOCM, so we are not having a discussion about them.
