Save names reused with variations. If Charles Henry keeps repeating, someone could go by Charlie, another by Chuck, Henry, Harry, Chad, Chas

+1. Same old names like Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary, Dorothy, Barbara will have cutesy nicknames to make them distinguishable and palatable.

These are mostly what a middle class midwesterner *thinks* WASPs name their kids. They hear a name like Hadley or Sloane and think it sounds high society.

The people saying WASPs give their kids old family names that get reused over and over and then they get some stupid nickname like Bitsy or Chip to distinguish them are on the right track. Some of the WASPs I know are named Marge (nn for Margaret), Tripp (a John III), and Nene (somehow short for Vivienne, named for grandmother). Yes, a white, WASPy middle aged lady named Nene. WASPs are very weird about names.
