I don't put anything in other people's bins ever because I grew up listening to my father rant about stuff like that so I know there are people that feel very passionate about their trash bins. DH used to because everyone did it in the neighborhood he grew up in but he stopped when I told him it really pisses some people off. The convenience factor of having a closer trash bin to throw it out in isn't worth pissing off the neighbors.

My trash collectors don't pick up small bags, so I would be pissed if some shithead dropped a bag of dog poop in my bin. I always throw dog poop in the common bins (we actually have dog poop designated bins in my DC neighborhood).

Put your poop bags in my trash can if its out by the curb. No problems from me. Don't walk behind the house to do it on non-pickup days, though.

I put poop bags in sidewalk trash cans if possible, but put them in my own trash can otherwise. We live in the city, so the trash truck picks up the whole can and dumps it upside down. As long as the bag is tied SECURELY, I don't personally care. I know other people care though, so I don't throw it in anyone else's can. If I lived somewhere where the bags were pulled out of the can by the worker, that would be a totally different story.

NEVER!! Who wants dog poop in their trash can? I don't even want it in mine! But my can is the only place I put it unless their is a public can where I am walking.

Trash collectors only take large bags. Your bags of poop can stay there forever until the homeowner puts them in the larger bags. Its a really crappy thing to do. We own/buy our own trash cans. We've had people walk on our property and do it and it pisses me off.

Yes, of course. It's a trash can. I'm not going to hold a freaking bag of poop for the entire walk... People who don't like it can get over themselves!

Even when on occasion our service has failed to come that day - but you can't be expected to know, and it doesn't happen very often.

The trash cans typically belong to the county, don't they? So any trash can psychos who flip out about trash being put in their trash can, well....

I generally use the city cans if available, or carry home. But I'm sure I have on occasion put them in other people's cans. I confess it never occurred to me that trash collectors might not empty the bin - not a problem in my hood as far as I know, and I've never had a problem getting my own bin emptied.
