OP, try posting on the BirthOptionsAlliance yahoo group. Lots of midwives and doulas on there who may know some bf-ing families with extra milk.

OP. I wish that was the case with my baby. We do give Probiotics. Alimentum and Nutramigen were totally rejected. Elecare at least wasn't but the volume intake is very low. So with the Ped GI's agreement since baby is older, I gave my non dairy-free frozen milk and we saw 20-22 oz a day (which is huge compared to the 10-12oz on Elecare) which helped gain weight albeit for a very short period. But I only had a week's supply and my friend gave me another few days supply. The ped GI had initially told us that we could gradually move to regular formula but need to take it slowly. If I had BM that's the way we would go (mix with regular formula gradually and check for symptoms) and not do the tube a little longer and see if we can turn the situation around. The solid feed is little but atleast we get her to take a couple of tablespoons now thanks to therapy (the therapist is hopeful it will get better and is not too keen on the tube and was the one who suggested BM donation).

The problem with weight is exacerbated because of the frequent projectile vomits. Anything can trigger it off, really sensitive gag reflex. This evening we dealt with yet another vomit - 1 milk feed (all of 3 oz Elecare) and some avocado/sweet potato all of which took 2 hrs to feed with distraction and we had to start all over again.

OP. A few wonderful ladies have written to me and I am trying to figure out how to pick up from DC. I am still looking as I have not been able to pick up from anyone yet. Where are you located and if you can spare some of the BM that your daughter won't use, I'd appreciate that but I wouldn't want to take more than a few ounces since your daughter deserves the milk you pumped. I am just looking for BM that you are going to throw or donate anyway.

I would probably chose a g-tube or try harder with formula before I would feed my baby a stranger's milk. Anyway, ask your doctor.

That's pretty scary. Although I wonder what they would find in a study analyzing milk that pumping moms have in the fridge/ freezer for their own babies. Because when I donated, I donated from the same batches that I fed my own child. I was always careful about cleaning my hands, bottles, pumping supplies, etc. It's not like I had lax hygiene for donated milk.

I make organic solid foods at home. Have taken leave of absence from work (and get some help from a mother's helper) and trying to figure this out. I keep trying. We are also seeing a feeding therapist. Ped sucks. And this is the 2nd one we have tried. But it is my fault, I chose location again since it is so difficult to get out and manage appointments.

My DH is working today so wasn't able to check till now. Off to check my email.

To the PP who said it is neglect. We are educated parents and have done everything we can to turn the situation around.

What does your pediatrician say about the failure to thrive and how to treat it?

Ped is not that great but the Ped GI says we need to do a milk scan now and that is possibly gastroparesis.
