I don't attend events just because I feel as if I 'should'. If I don't want to go, I don't and to hell with what anyone thinks.

This. I am going to be in trouble no matter what I do...DW is angry all the time. More at the situation than me...we never have sex. My sex drive is down because of side effects of medical issues (cancer).
So, I do what I want most of the time.
