Before baby, I walked all over the place and knew I had to stick to under 1500 calories (I'm 5'2). So now, I'm around 180 which is awful. I've gotten food under control but don't consistently exercise. Any hope for me? Any tips? I've lost 16 pounds in these 21 months but that is such a slow rate of loss.

PP here: Jogging stroller? Gym with daycare? Even walks with your DS would probably feel good. 16 pounds is a great start--it's not easy to lose the weight. How is your son sleeping? I get up early to work out before my kids are up (we have an elliptical in the basement), and also take the kids running in the double jogger. Anything to keep moving!

I definitely need to make exercise more of a priority. Unfortunately DS wakes up at 5 or 5:30 and that has been really tough on me but now that the weather is better we need to head out of the house and walk or at least do so on the weekends.

Ugh, those early wake-ups are brutal. Hang in there.

But, with the earlier sunrise, that could also make for a good early morning walk with your son, or jog if you're up to it. Not sure what your work/home schedule is like, but maybe that's an option?

Yeah, I'm able to thread the needle many mornings as my infant wakes up at 5 to eat, I feed him, then work out before his sister the toddler wakes up at 6:30. Then, jogging stroller on weekends and WAH days. I admit to being compulsive about my exercise, and it's a lot of effort to make it work. Good luck!

Try a jogging stroller. The extra resistance of his weight plus the stroller is likely to make it more effective for weight loss. Another option is exercise DVDs that you do at home while he is sleeping or a gym with childcare.

Okay this isn't a good picture.

point is that you can lose weight and work out but the extra skin needs to be surgically removed.

the only way is to excise the stretched out skin. Google tummy tuck before and after.

The vast majority of it is genetics. I work my butt off with diet and exercise and am still far from pre-preg shape.

This is my problem. Three pregnancies including a twin one. I am 5'8" and 138 lbs so look fairly decent in clothes. However underneath my stomach is bad. Sigh.

I'm giving Venus Freeze a try on my abs. Will let you know what I think about it though I don't think I have tons of extra skin on my stomach. It is flat, but a little loose. We shall see...

Well, are you willing to really sacrifice? If you are, yes -- there is definitely help for you. I have probably lost over 30 lbs in less than 5 months. I don't weigh myself but I went from a tight size 10 (really, a size 12) to a loose size 6, which is now almost falling off of me. I'm 5'5". If I had to guess, I probably weigh about 135lbs now. I have a muscular build though so not really sure.

I lost the weigh by cutting my calories back drastically (no more than 1,200 a day, with very few exceptions) and doing high intensity running. Started off jogging between 1-3 miles a day/five times a week. Now probably up to about 30 miles/week. I cut out all sugar and almost all carbs.

It has been drastic, but it has worked. Now that I'm at my goal weight, I'm eating more/being more forgiving about what I eat (still a lot of exercise though). It has been tough and a real commitment. But you can do it.

Don't expect the 2 lbs per week number that is supposed to be the average. I have lost 7 in 2.5 months, but I've also added muscle.

Plus it's harder to focus on weight loss when you have kids, work, etc. Slow and steady wins the race. You will get there PP.

Join a gym or a running group. Running plus lifting weights has worked for me (along with good diet, of course)
