The last time we shopped around for car/homeowners insurance, State Farm was cheaper than Geico. But you should revisit every few years. An independent insurance broker sounds like a good idea.

I highly suggest going to an insurance broker and letting them shop to all your insurance needs. We do this ever 5 years or so and have saved a lot of money. Erie had always come back with the best rates and coverage for our cars (and our umbrella policy! )
