OP my husband would agree with you. He does DIY projects and is reluctant to have work done because he thinks bringing unknown workmen into our home will somehow cause an Elizabeth Smart situation with our 2 beautiful daughters.
I work in the news business and honestly I am always scaring my daughters with stories from honest to god real news. When my youngest got in trouble for playing "hide and seek" at the Wal-Mart, she said "Mommy there are NOT really bad guys." To which I have to respond, actually, this is a great place for a bad man to wait for a kid to wander off. The police will find you in a paper bag in his basement cut up into pieces. Is that what you want?

I would guess, from this context, that it's Turner Syndrome, which can cause difficulties with boundaries as part of the condition. However, it's very unlikely that a child with Turner's would have made it to this age without a diagnosis.
