I would not buy in Burke. I know it is a "great place to live," but the HS in WS is better and I find Burke less walkable. Plus, it is further out, many parts by quite a bit.

We're buying in Burke, and while I would be pleased if values went up, I think prices there are already higher than they should be (major increases just in the last two years). Also, I'm just not sure that a town center, even a great one, 15-20 minutes away is going to affect property values.

Either way, it is a good find if the house is even semi-updated. Prices are going to go up in these hoods soon. Great to buy now if you can find something you can live with before you strip all the wallpaper. Your famines have been moving in for the last 8ish years. Filled with young blood, but tough to find a good house (in terms of decorating).

Original home owners (senior citizens) are starting to move out, at least in our subdivsion. If you don't mind buying a house with wall paper and blue carpeting you can find some decent deals.

One of the reasons for the low inventory is because the area is so convenient to Ft. Belvoir. TONS of military families live in this area for the good school districts and easy commute to Belvoir.

Because of the demand, lots of people don't sell their homes here. My husband and I live in a SFH in West Springfield and we also own a TH nearby that we rent out to military families.

Which is exactly why the streetcar on Columbia Pike needs to be built. Metro would have been even better of course, but that's 4x as expensive.


PP The Columbia Pike streetcar will be in Arlington County, not in Fairfax County, the location Skyline. Fairfax County may elect to extend the streetcar, but it would more likely be to serve the Army building on Seminary Rd and 395, not Skyline.


Wrong. The whole point of the streetcar is to run along the entire Pike: starting in Fairfax.
