Of course she can comment, but I wouldn't blame her for not getting anything out right away is all I was getting at.

I wasn't aware that a candidate for office could not comment or stake a position.

Well Nadeau can't really comment right? She isn't actually a Councilmember yet. So it is Graham's to comment on.

Nope - shows all her "courage". Ugh.

So where are the other progressive-minded Councilmembers and Council candidates on all of this? Mendelson? Grosso? Wells? Charles Allen? Nadeau? What about Alexander and Barry, who still has political weight to throw around EotR.

Bowser now on record as equivocating. Surprised?

Bowser has kept quiet because she has voters in her ward who could love the plan and voters who will hate it.

I credit Cheh for getting the Healthy Schools Act signed into law,as well as a series of environmental initiatives. Replacing all street lights in DC and resolutions to ban cracking in VA and end homelessness in DC seem like a waste of time. Why has she been MIA on bigger education initiatives up to now?

I actually talked to Cheh for the first time in my life at a Boy Scout banquet, and was extremely impressed. We spoke about how important education was (it saved my husband from a life of poverty and manual labor), and she was completely on top of trying to get a G&T program into Hardy. we talked about how neighborhood preference would destroy charter schools, and she told me she was the first in her family to graduate from high school (I think instead of college, like my MIL)

She is not out of touch and she is smart. I was really impressed. I do not think she would allow Hardy to feed anywhere besides Wilson if it were up to her.....

+1. She is truly on top of things...we may be witnessing be some polítical trolls in these threads trying to attack her.

Eh she isn't great. Smart yes. But she isn't that great of a councilmember. She is much more concerned with odd big-picture policy issues that have little or nothing to do with W3. It would be nice if she was a little more like some of the other CMs where their Wards are their #1 priority.

She talks a good game but has displayed very little leadership or effectiveness in actually influencing policies or change in the city. I used to be a fan but then worked closely with her on a topic where she swayed based on what better side of the press she thought she could get in the Post and actually did very little to nothing vs. just talking sympathetically out of both sides of her mouth depending on who she was talking to. (And this was an issue where both sides were WOTP concerns. When she goes up against the EOTP CM's she's basically a non-entity on the Council.

At least Cheh has said something. Bowser is completely silent, which is unfortunate since her ward, Ward 4, is getting screwed big time in all of the options presented.

This will make or break my decision to vote for her. Not looking good...

Just wanted to say that the Cheh office put the statement out on the Tenlytown listserve today, so yes, it is the official statement.
