Not possible. 10 years with no repairs. Still the same tires, brakes, wipers, etc. I don't think so unless you drive 500 miles a year.

Can't go back to a car without heated front seats, bluetooth, rear view camera, automatic wipers, etc. Yes, the back seat has no leg room. So consider that. But I drive 1 hour each way (and I am in a close in suburb just 9 miles away) but I have to drop off DS first and then 45 minutes to Capitol Hill with traffic. A nice car makes it much more comfortable. I can afford it though. If you are debating between a $15k car and a $40k car, consider a VW with nice options.
You can get all of these things on a car that costs WAY less than a Mercedes and with none of the maintenance costs. Largely, you're paying for the fancy hood ornament.

I have all those things + more on my subaru...and love my ride and wallet.
And I have all of them in my '13 Ford Escape. Buy American!
Yes, I'm sure the Ford Escape drives and feels just like a Mercedes....not.

Erm, both Honda and Toyota make their cars in America. I don't care what nationality the CEO of the car company is, but I"m happy knowing that the people who assembled my Honda live in Ohio.
Everyone's life would be better if you were sitting in a Prius, listening to classical WETA 90.9 FM.
Seriously!

The items you list are normal wear and tear and generally cost the same in most cars. Repairs are different - electrical problems, engine trouble, rusting or corrosion.[/quote
I can assure they don't cost the same in most cars, compare brakes in a Honda to a Mercedes, BMW, OR Audi. Most modern day cars don't have repairs as you define it so it comes down to routine maintenance costs.

You can easily buy a 3 year old 60k car for 20k and low miles still under warranty.
I agree with this very much. You don't have to buy a Mercedes to get a very comfortable ride. Check out the Toyota Avalon.
