I am going to be a guest speaker at a class and was told out of a class of 40 probably 25 kids would actually be in attendance due to truancy.

Anacostia High. I don't know a single person who managed to send DC there.

Obviously this was a joke post, but have to chime in here:

A friend of mine works at Anacostia High School (Did TFA and is still there 8 years later) and says it's a pretty great place. Class sizes are small, (because of the huge drop out rate, but according to her the kids that are there are smart, committed and really want to learn) and the staff is mostly made up of well educated TFA types from Harvard, Duke, Berkeley, etc. These teachers for the most part produce their own innovative curriculum and materials and often take kids of field trips. A similar description to what you might get at a 30k a year private.

...just sayin.

I believe you, PP. And, glad to hear.

LOL!

Yes, DC's is strong in terms of academics and athletics as well as social skills/personality.

Because by the time your child is age 4, you just know these things.

So, strong in everything?
